We’ve made it a quarter of the way through the year, y’all! Hopefully we’re all in the rhythm of weekly and monthly chores as well. April has a pretty short chore list, which is awesome since we also have Easter coming up this month. I absolutely love Easter. It is the most important holiday. Christmas is fantastic and all, but Easter is just so special. Every major religion has a central figure that was born. But raising himself from the dead? That’s just Jesus. That’s just MY Jesus! I’m so excited to share this special holiday with the boys and start creating our own family traditions. My favorite growing up was this carton of eggs that my mom had replaced with plastic Easter eggs. Inside each egg was a little object and a slip of paper that told part of the Easter story. I can’t wait to share that with our boys.
Alright, let’s get to our chore for the month! It’s washing cabinets. You won’t believe the amount of smudgy stuff that get on the cabinets. From food drips while you cook, the husband’s peanut butter fingers, the toddler’s peanut butter fingers, and the baby who likes to lick everything in sight, those cabinets get dirty! A bowl of warm water and some Murphy's Oil Soap is my favorite for cleaning cabinets. I’ve tried the Murphy's Oil Soap spray before, but I find it too oily. I know, I know. It’s “oil soap,” what do you expect? Well, I’m a control freak who likes to be able to find the perfect balance of oil and warm water.
Whatever you use, go for it and have fun! Little helpers might enjoy cleaning the lower cabinets. And, yes, you’ll still have to clean behind them. I’ve found my toddler is actually decent at getting the first coat of yuck off, so it does make cleaning a little quicker. And don’t forget about the bathroom cabinets! I usually do kitchen cabinets one day, and bathroom cabinets another day. If you have cabinets in a utility room, you could throw that in there too if you’re feeling feisty.
You’ll notice that the whole bottom half of the April Cleaning Checklist is saved for you to prep for Easter plans! Whether your family does Easter BIG or keeps it low-key, make sure you jot down your priorities so they don’t get forgotten in the hustle and bustle of Easter egg hunts and eating allllllll the Reese’s Eggs. I hope y’all have a happy Easter and rejoice in the fact that our Savior is risen! He is risen indeed!
